GoPro/Omnico graciously invited Deep VR to share their stand at the Photo & Film Expo 2015, held at the Ticketpro Dome.
We set up a futuristic looking plinth with handrails which people could walk up into and experience Deep VR’s stereoscopic 3D virtual reality showreel.
And then we met Yusuf Omar and his team from eNCA, who were there to cover the expo as a whole but kind of fell in love with that they saw on our stand. So after interviewing our CEO, Ulrico Grech-Cumbo, the two teams got chatting. We came up with the idea of filming SA’s first ever virtual reality journalism field report from the Photo & Film Expo.
This 360° video was put on eNCA’s YouTube channel and Facebook, where it attracted over 83,000 views, becoming eNCA’s most viewed online video of all time.
What many people don’t yet realise about the post-production workflow of 360° videos though is that it takes a huge amount of time – typically 7-14 days. This video was completed by Deep VR’s editing team in only 6 hours.
Many thanks once again to GoPro & eNCA.
