Spring Fiesta is a household name (excuse the pun) in the local music scene. Held at Wild Waters in Boksburg, this annual one day music festival boasts 5 stages, over 60 artists and is attended by over 15,000 people.
We filmed this experience with a multi-cam setup comprising of both one of our 2D 360 degree rigs, as well as a 3D rig for our Oculus virtual reality showreel experience. This particular shoot, as it turned out, was the first time a music festival was ever filmed in 360° on the African continent. In this particular clip, we feature famous South African artists DJ Kent and Euphonik, who perform collectively as Kentphonik.
We think virtual reality offers a fascinating value proposition to brands: sponsor a music event, and instead of the fan conversation dying as soon as the festival ends, allow tens of thousands of people who couldn’t make it to virtually experience the concert for weeks after.
What makes this even more exciting is the fact that YouTube & Facebook both support promoted 360° videos now. Which means digital agencies & brand clients can really leverage the content opportunity as post-event amplification.
Expect to see more virtual reality-based sponsorship activations and post-event digital experiences from Deep VR into the future!
